About The South Mountain Inn

The South Mountain Inn is located on South Mountain in South Heidelberg Township, PA. South Mountain has a rich history. Magnificent resorts flourished on the mountain in the mid 1800's and early 1900's. The natural spring waters of South mountain, its beauty, and reliable train service attracted travelers and those seeking healing from chronic illnesses. http://www.berkshistory.org/multimedia/articles/south-mountain-resorts/

The inn's Victorian home was built in the late 1800's by Lucretia and Harry Anthony and known as the "Anthony Mansion." George Pomeroy, a local businessman who started a chain of large department stores, purchased the "Anthony Mansion" in 1903. His family owned the property for more than 30 years.

The mountain has always attracted those seeking rest, beauty, and healing. Today the train no longer runs to Wernersville station and the historic resorts no longer operate, but visitors still find hope and healing on South Mountain.

The Caron Treatment Facility purchased one of the historic resorts and provides comprehensive treatment for drug and alcohol dependency. https://www.caron.org/about-caron/our-history

In 2007, Kyle and Jennifer Robinson purchased the property and turned it into The Stable Bed and Breakfast. Kyle was a Caron alum and had a vision for supporting families visiting the Caron Treatment Facility.

The Metzger family purchased the B&B in 2018 and renamed it The South Mountain Inn. They are continuing the vision of supporting Caron families and others who visit the mountain.
